How to Add Notion Icon Next to Title
Technically, you can’t easily add a Notion icon next to titles within the Notion page. There is no dedicated space for that.
But there are two alternative ways to add Notion icons next to titles.
How to Add Emojis as Notion Icon Next to Title
The easiest way to add Notion icons next to titles is by using emojis. This is because you can insert them anywhere on the page, even within the body and as a page icon.
Yet, emojis look unprofessional, especially if you use the Notion page as a document. Plus, most don’t render well when you print them.
But if you want to proceed, follow these steps:
1. Place the cursor before the title.
Though it’s a simple step, this is crucial as the cursor’s placement tells Notion where you want to insert the emoji.
2. Open the “Emoji Picker” menu.
One way to do this is by typing “/emoji” before the first letter of the title. Then on the dropdown menu, select “Emoji” under the “Inline” section.
A menu of all the emojis available then opens.
Another way is to type the colon (:) symbol and the keyword of the emoji next to it. All the emojis related to the keyword you typed then appear.
3. Select the emoji you’ll use.
Click on the emoji. You should now see the emoji next to the title you added on the Notion page.
How to Add Unicode Symbols as Notion Icon Next to Title
Symbols, like emojis, can also be added beside a title on a Notion page and used as its icon. The process is almost similar, except they are more professional-looking than emojis.
They also render well when you print the Notion page.
Follow these steps to add symbols as a Notion icon next to a title:
1. Open a Unicode website.
There are tons of websites that feature Unicode symbols. One good website to start with is Symbl.cc. Vertex42 is another good website to source unicode symbols from.
2. Copy the Unicode symbol.
Browse through the table or list of Unicode symbols on the website. When you find one that best represents the title, highlight the symbol and right-click on it.
Then select “Copy” on the dropdown menu.
On Symbl.cc though, you can click on the symbol. A “Copied” notification then appears.
3. Paste the symbol you copied beside the title.
Place the cursor before the title and press “Ctrl/Cmd + V” to paste it.
You should now see the symbol appear beside the title.
Conclusion
Adding a Notion icon next to the title is a simple and effective way of customizing your experience within the tool. Not only does it personalize your workspace, but it also streamlines your navigation in the tool.
This way, you’ll easily locate a section on your Notion page. Plus, you have a more visually appealing and user-friendly space to work on.
