How to Get Notion Database ID: #1 Quick Guide

Databases are one of the crucial features of Notion. You can use a database for many things, like creating templates and integrating them with other tools for automation.

But, to make the integration more efficient, you need to get the ID of that Notion database. How can you get the Notion database ID then?

Notion is a powerful productivity tool because of customization and automation. All these are thanks to one of the most useful features within the tool, the database.

But to fully harness the power of databases, you need to know what that specific database’s ID is.

The Notion database ID consists of 32 alphanumeric characters between the “acme (/)” and “question mark (?)” symbols in the URL. This database ID will allow you to work on the same database and even create automated tasks with it.

But to get the ID of the Notion database, you first have to open it to full-page in the browser you’re using.

So if you’re using the Notion desktop app, do the following steps:

1. Click the 3-dot icon.

You’ll find this in the top-right corner of the Notion page you opened. This is also the button to click when you want to export the Notion page as a PDF or when you want to merge databases using the CSV file method.

A dropdown menu then opens.

2. Select the “Copy Link” button.

The Notion database should now be seen on the browser.

These alphanumeric characters (32 in total) are what comprise the database ID. Copy and paste this to your notepad to serve as your reference later on when asked about it.

This process is true for full-page databases.

But for inline databases, you first have to open it as a full-page database. If you don’t, you’ll get the page ID instead of the database ID.

To do this, click the “Open as full page” icon on the inline database’s top right corner. You’ll find this icon between the “Search” and the “3-dot” icons.
