How to Lock Pages in Notion
Locking pages in Notion is easy. Aside from the usual method, there is also an alternative method of locking your Notion pages.
In this way, any Notion template you made and published with the help of Cloudflare won’t be edited or accessed without your permission. The best thing is that the steps are the same whether you access the tool on a PC or mobile phone.
Granting that you have already opened a Notion page, choose any method you prefer using.
1. Using the “Lock Page” Feature
1. Click the 3-dot icon.
You’ll see this on the upper right corner of the Notion page you opened, after the “Favorite” icon.
2. Select the “Lock Page” option.
You’ll find this option between the “Customize page” and “Add to Favorites” options. Automatically, the page is locked, and you’ll see the “Locked” icon to the right of the Notion page’s name.
People who don’t have access to your Notion page and all page admins will see this icon.
3. Click the “Locked” icon.
Clicking on the “Locked” icon will unlock the Notion page again, allowing you to edit it. Then select “Re-Lock” to lock the Notion page again.
2. Using a Password
If you want a more secure form of locking your Notion page, add a password to it. There are other ways of password-protecting your Notion page if you don’t like the method below.
However, using a password to lock Notion pages is a Pro plan feature.
1. Click “Settings & members.
This is the fourth option on the left-side panel, between “All team spaces” and “New page.”
2. Select the “My Account” tab.
This is the first option on the “Account” window after your account name and email address.
3. Click the toggle for “Password.”
The “Password” option is between “Email” and “2-step verification” in the “Account security” section.
4. Type your new password.
Enter a password that is at least 8 characters with both letters and numbers or a 15-letter long password.
Re-type the password in the “Confirm your new password” field. This will confirm your new password.
5. Click the “Set a password” button.
This immediately makes your Notion page password-protected, and locked from access from unauthorized persons.
How to Share a Locked Page in Notion
After locking a page in Notion, people without access to it won’t be able to edit anything. However, you can still share it with a select few — as long as you give them access.
1. Click “Share.”
This button’s found at the upper right corner of the locked Notion page, before the “Comment” button.
2. Type the emails of the people you’re granting access to your Notion page.
Do this in the “Add people, groups, or emails…” field in the “Share” window.
3. Choose the access you’re giving the persons added.
Click “Down” to the right of the person’s email. Then select any of the following access options:
- Full Access (Editing and sharing of the Notion page is allowed)
- Can Edit (Editing is allowed but not sharing)
- Can Comment (Viewing and commenting but not editing are allowed)
- Can View (Editing and sharing not allowed)
- Remove (Removes the person’s access from the Notion page)
The access you selected will then have a checkmark on its right side.
4. Choose the people who can access your Notion page.
Select the “Down” button of the “Invite Only” button to open its dropdown menu. You’ll then see three options.
- Invite only (only those invited to the Notion page can access it)
- Anyone with the link at [name of Notion page] Notion (workspace members and anyone invited to it can access the page)
- Everyone at [name of Notion page] Notion (all members of the workspace can search and access the page)
Again, the option selected will have a checkmark on its right side.
5. Click the “Copy link” button.
This copies the link of the locked Notion page, allowing you to send it to your workmates or team members using third-party messaging apps or email.
