Using Online Generators to Add Countdown in Notion
Adding a countdown timer is like how you embed other widgets in Notion. Visit an online widget generator site to customize a countdown widget to your liking.
Online generators allow Notion users to add widgets like a countdown to one’s workspace. Just create an account and find the countdown widget from the options available.
Two of the most online widget generator sites include Indify and Notion Widgets.
Using Indify
After logging into your Indify account, go to the “Volume 2” section and select “Countdown.” Click “Create widget” and type its title before clicking the “Continue” button.
From there, set the countdown date and customize the calendar by clicking the toggles. To change the text color and the widget’s background, click on the corresponding boxes.
Then click “Copy Link” (the clipboard icon) until a “Copied to Clipboard” notification appears.
Go back to your Notion workspace and paste the link in a blank space. Then choose the “Create embed” option on the dropdown menu. Once the countdown widget appears, resize and reposition it accordingly.
Using Notion-Widgets
Like in Indify, you’ll have to log into your Notion Widgets account or create one if you haven’t. Once there, scroll down the “Home” page and click the “CountDown Timer” option.
Go to the “UI Options” section and customize your countdown timer. Start with typing its title, then set the date and time (manually type this) on the calendar. Then choose what data you’ll include.
Then choose the colors for the widget’s background and text by clicking on the colored rectangles. Once done, click the “Create Widget” button.
Select the “Copy link” button and paste the embed link on a blank space on your Notion page.
Select “Create embed” and wait for the countdown you created to appear. Resize it if you want and reposition it accordingly on your Notion workspace.
Using the “DateBetween” Function to Add Countdown in Notion
If you don’t like embedding a countdown widget from online generators, add a deadline countdown timer instead through the “DateBetween” formula. But, like adding tags, you add a table or database first.
Then click the “+” icon to the right of the last column added and select “Formula” on the dropdown menu. Rename it and click “Formula” to edit it.
After, type the “DateBetween” formula on the formula bar: dateBetween(prop(”Deadline”), now(), “days”).
Ensure that the name you’ll put in the “Deadline” space is the same as the property header. Otherwise, an error message appears. Also, you can swap out “days” with “months,” “weeks,” “minutes,” or even “seconds” if you want to.
If you have typed the formula correctly, the “Done” button will then turn blue — click it. By now, you should see the difference between the start dates and the project deadline.
A word of caution: Make sure the other columns before the “Formula” column are formatted as “Date” and not “Text.” If you accidentally set it as “Text,” the formula won’t work.
Conclusion
Integrating countdowns in Notion visually represents your time-sensitive events and tasks. Any of those methods mentioned will help you incorporate this feature in your Notion workspaces.
Hence, you’ll never miss important deadlines and have more effective time management. Accomplish your goals and stay on track with Notion’s countdown feature!
